Yesterday I taught a subject that might also interest you in my Coach Certification Program: The Blind Spot of Dating/Relationship Coaching.  If you have tried this coach or that coach or this method or that method with only mediocre results it's because the diagnosis on your situations is not accurate.

 

These days every one teaches feminine energy and leaning back (use coupon code 50OFF for the hit Leaning Back Workshop till Jan 5).  Theoretically it's very simple and most coaches get the lingo right: feminine is about being, not doing.  Don't initiate, don't lead, don't pursue but be passive and receptive.

 

So they cover the basics and once in a while they do give you the results you want when there is no complication in the dating process but more often than not, dating and relating are more complex than the sanitized "how to get a guy through leaning back."

 

A lot of times it involves your and his unresolved issues/wounds and unmet expectations and the clash of perceptions that are colored by those unresolved issues as well as projections that ensue between the two parties in the relating. These are the aspects of coaching that most coaches are not capable of transcending and solving because they simply aren't evolved enough to deal with the deeper issues that dating and relationship stir in people (including in themselves).

 

It's like asking for advice from your girl friends.  Their response is generally "you deserve better," "run for the hills!" "set your boundaries so he respects you," "dump him!," "if he loves you he'll do what you want/ask for/he'll make you happy," "you want a man who makes you feel good instead of bad about yourself."

 

They believe the problems are the men that cause those feelings in their clients/the women.

 

Naturally, there is no much anyone can do when the verdict is the problems are out there not "in here."

 

Imagine the feeling of being stuck cause you are always compelled to exert yourself to make others (your partner) conform to your personal guidelines of do's and don'ts on how to handle your delicate feelings.

 

These coaches exactly offer you that, hence they aren't particularly helpful cause you really have no control upon other people but yourself.  

 

So their advice generally revolves around how to express your feelings and communicate in a way that these men can fix their behaviors that cause all these painful emotions.  Or how to adopt strategies to make him see how wrong he has been.  Or how to show up a diva so a man doesn't take advantage of you cause "trust me men love women who can say no and stand up for themselves and who know how to put men in their places."

 

They assume whatever coming out a woman's mouth is what actually happens objectively.  If she perceives abusive behavior it's because he's truly abusive no matter what she has done or how she shows up that contributes to that toxic dynamics. If she perceives lack of commitment, he's truly a player and "emotionally unavailable."  If she perceives flakiness, it's truly because he doesn't respect her and he's really not that into her.  If she's offended by what he says it's because he's a jerk who doesn't respect women, and so forth, etc.

 

So their general advice will be "move on till you find a guy who's perfect in every way cause a good man won't do any of those things you perceive that make you feel less than."

 

And sure enough, such men don't exist (the men who are up to their "standards" are generally of the beta type with no back bone of their own).

 

Cause the problem isn't men or even out there.  The problem is in here (pointing to chest).

 

And because of this misdiagnosis very few coaches out there really provide lasting solutions to any relationship issue.  Their methods work for a little bit till the going gets tough, i.e. till they can't navigate the murky waters of perceptions and projections that are at the center of every relating and relationship.

 

If the only advice any coach can give you is to "fix externalities" and "walk away" if the fixing doesn't work, no surprise that you will never confront yourself and you shall never heal the very things that make relationship with him or any particular guy so hard.

 

And because they're never confronted and healed, they will continue to haunt you and follow you like a shadow.

 

Then you'll end up with the same problems, different days and men.

 

And will you keep running away searching for the holy grail of relationship?

These coaches need inner work themselves cause all their advices focus on fixing externalities instead of looking for the hidden lesson/flip side of every situation that brings about real transformation.
